Health Care Tips

Mauritius is a sophisticated country, with high public health standards. It has been malaria-free for over 30 years and has no major infectious communicable disease. Its Government and inhabitants are very health conscious and the standard of living is relatively high.
Most homes are equipped with running water and an extensive sewerage system exists.

Government spends a larger fraction of the national budget, providing free public health services through a network of 8 public hospitals, community and health centres.
Supplementing the public health system are a dozen of private clinics of which Clinique Darné is one of the oldest and most reputable. Since its renovation Clinique Darné is also the most modern.

When travelling to Mauritius, make a note of the following:
Check your medical insurance cover, to make sure you are fully covered in the event of unexpected illness or accident requiring admission to a private clinic.
Clinic Darné will accept most insurance cover schemes with reputable companies.

Give us a call prior to departure, in case you wish any additional information on our services on possible emergency medical situations. Tel : (+230) 601 2300

The average temperature on coastal areas in Mauritius varies between 25 and 30 degrees. Sun care is essential. Don't get over-exposed to the sun.
Avoid drinking running water from the tap. Good quality imported and locally-produced bottled water is available at all hotels and shopping centres.
