We recognise that International Patients have special needs and requirements. Our dedicated International Desk is here to assist you in arranging your medical travel, from doctor’s appointments to airport pick up and hotel. We also offer assistance in visa arrangements.

  • Processing of second medical opinions, assistance with finding a doctor & remote consultations

    You will, of course, have to travel for actual treatment, but we can streamline that by giving you advice and information regardless of your current physical location.

    Just give us your medical details, outlining your problem and attaching reports (x-rays, CT/MRI scan, USG, pathological reports etc.) or a summary of observations based on them.

    We will:

    • Answer your "who", "what", where", "how" and "why" queries
    • Guide you for the consultant doctor
    • Share an all-inclusive or package cost estimate for the recommended treatment
    • Share details about the recuperation - the time period, precautions to be taken, any special requirements pertaining to diet/physiotherapy etc.
  • Scheduling of all medical appointments

    Our International Patient Services desk will help you with scheduling appointments with your doctors. You can also use the BOOK AN APPOINTMENT link to do it yourself.

  • Cost estimates for anticipated treatment

    After reviewing your medical reports, our team of doctors will diagnose your ailment and recommend a course of treatment. Based on this, we will then work out an estimate for the cost of treatment. The cost estimation service is free for you.

  • Payment options

    For your convenience, we offer a number of payment modes:

    Wire transfer
    Transfer money directly from your bank account to Clinique Darné account – it takes about 7 working days for the funds to be credited. Send us the scanned copy of the money transfer receipt; this will be used to help you settle your bill. On discharge, any excess amount will be refunded to you and any shortfall will have to be paid in cash.


    • We will send you our bank details on request. The transferred amount cannot be used for bill settlement unless you provide us with a copy of the wire transfer receipt direct payment at the hospital: Pay your hospital bill at the hospital directly through cash, or card.
    • We accept all major credit cards like VISA, MASTER Card, and AMEX. We accept payment for in-patient services in the following currencies: US Dollar, Euro and British Pound.
  • Insurance coverage

    We are aware that you have a lot on your mind when you walk into a hospital. Money shouldn't be one of them. That's why we have tied-up with an elaborate group of insurance companies so that you can choose the best in healthcare without worrying about the costs. Moreover, if your medical insurance policy covers services rendered overseas, we will be happy to discuss payment options with your insurance provider.

  • End-to-end assistance during stay

    Our International Patient Services team will smoothen your stay at every stage, from the moment you arrive until you go back. They will:

    • Arrange for the initial consultation with the doctor(s).
    • Schedule standard pre-surgical tests required.
    • Explain your pre/post-surgical medication to you.
    • Make sure you get a comprehensive written medical report on discharge.
    • Arrange for a consultation with the dietician who will then personalize our special international menu to your medical and religious needs, and tastes.
    • Organize daily email updates to your referring doctor and your family back home.
  • Flight arrangements & extensions / visa assistance

    Few nationalities need a visa to visit Mauritius. Certain visitors must be in possession of a valid passport and a return or onward ticket. A visitor's visa is normally granted for a period of two weeks to one month upon arrival, to almost all holders of a valid passport. Visitors are strongly recommended to contact the Passport and Immigration Office in Mauritius or the nearest Mauritian Embassy or Consulate.

    No visas are required to come to Mauritius if you hold a passport from Australia, France, South Africa, Germany, Spain, UK, United States of America and a number of other countries. Visit the Mauritian Passport and Immigration office website for a full list and more information.

    • British Airways: 2 days a week (Friday & Sunday)
    • Emirates Airline: daily
    • Air Madagascar: 2 days a week (Tuesday & Sunday)
    • Air Austral: daily
    • Air Seychelles: 5 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday).

  • Special dietary / Religious arrangements

    We are sensitive to specific requirements and will gladly provide the following on request:

    • Specially made food for vegetarians
    • Halaal meals are available
  • Booking of hotel / service apartments

    Depending on your budget, we can facilitate and arrange accommodation for you and your attendant close to the hospital at nearby guest-houses, service apartments or luxurious 5-star hotels. Facilities like hospital visits, on-call doctor, taxi services and emergency ambulance may also be arranged by our team, upon your request.

  • Airport transfer service

    Before your arrival, our International Patients Services Team will send you the name and contact details of the staffer being sent to meet you. This person will escort you to the hospital or accommodation. If you are unable to find the person sent to pick you, all you need to do is call our hospital on 601 2300 and request for the International Desk.

    Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is situated in Plaisance (code MRU) and is 3km from Mahebourg and 48km from the capital city Port Louis. Facilities include duty-free shops, bars, lounges, banks and a post office. Fortis Clinic Darné is located at Georges Guibert St, Curepipe and is 26 km to the airport. The commute from the airport to the clinic takes around half an hour.

  • Interpreter services

    Our hospital staff is familiar with English, French, Hindi and the local Creole language. We can arrange for interpreters if necessary.

  • Updating parents / relatives at home

    The Patient Welfare Officer assigned to you will update your referral doctor and arrange to connect you with your family to let them know about your progress. Though the preferred medium of communication is email, you can also opt for telephone or fax.

    Je voulais vous dire que lorsque j'étais au way care,  il y avait pas de chambre libre j'étais surprise par un de vos médecins, elle était française je crois, mais je me suis pas nommé. J'ai l'enthousiasme de savoir qui vient de Madagascar. Tout ça pour toi que sa voix m'a aussi rassurée et j'ai oublié que j'étais malade.
